Supernatural Shavuot outreach

Messiah of Israel Ministries were led to take the Gospel to the streets of Tel Aviv.

It’s a Jewish tradition to read Psalms 67 during Shavuot because it has seven verses that match the seven weeks leading up to this Holy Day. The Lord directed Messianic Rabbi Zev Porat to read this Psalm as he was encountering people on the streets. Zev remembered reading it while he was in Yeshiva (an orthodox religious school) but never really understood the true meaning of the passage until Zev received the Holy Spirit.

Verse 2 reads, “that your ways may be known on the earth, your salvation among all nations.”

The Lord directed him to a certain Yeshiva teacher named Alfred.

When Zev began reading the Psalm to Rabbi Alfred and inquiring of him as to the meaning, the rabbi became uncomfortable and said, “We get salvation because we are Jews, but this is not for the nations.” Zev explained that it appeared to him this verse is saying that the Lord desires all nations to have the knowledge of salvation. Zev also asked him how a Jewish person receives salvation. The rabbi replied, “By doing good works and keeping the Ten Commandments.” Zev explained that it is impossible to keep the commandments to the standard God requires, which is perfection; and that is why he sent His Son to rescue us from the condemnation of breaking them.

“You sound like a Christian! Where does the Bible say God sent His Son?” the rabbi exclaimed. Zev turned to

Psalms 2:7-8 which says, “I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD : He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession.”

Bible study in the Kotel. Hallelujah!
Praise God! After this, the rabbi took Zev’s phone number and said he would like to meet with him again and bring another rabbi with him. Please pray for this future meeting. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open the eyes of both of these rabbis so that they will see the true Messiah of Israel.
We continued to share the good news with the people of Bnei Brak.
